Kill them! Kill them twice!

« on: July 24, 2008, 03:46:49 PM »

just a few thoughts and impressions from bo's latest pontification...

event was proceeded by two rock groups to guarantee adoring fans.  bo tells the audience that he is not there as a politician but rather a citizen of the world and a black one at that. Shocked  this is important because be believes that the people of berlin and of course the world have never seen a black man from america off the plantation. Huh  now we here his life story.....again....minus the cocaine? Tongue  i guess after wwII all was hunkydory with the germans and americans, we all came together to put humpty back together....but i thought we all came together after we gave them a complete ass kicking??  wwII the last "total" war. Undecided   on 9-11 terrorists killed thousands from all over the globe??  really, i thought they were specifically americans in america Roll Eyes Huh Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry  okay, news flash...europeans are currently bearing more responsibility in critical parts of the world!  the wheres, whens and hows of this statement are classified. Grin Grin Grin Grin  now we're discussing the burdens of global citizenship??  talked a little about freedom, the soviets...no mention of who it is that is responsible for the freedom europe enjoys today and everyday for quite some time now.   Huh Huh   ah wealth re-distribution, something all of his adoring fans are standing in line with hands out stretched for.   workers of the world....hide your wallets. Wink Wink  not we've driven off down human rights lane.  interesting, not so very long ago, bo considered genocide an acceptable outcome in iraq and we all know that bo opposed the removal of saddam HUSSEIN.  cheap shot i apologize.....nah. Grin Grin  i believe he just asked the world to forgive the good ole usofa Huh Huh Huh Huh  well he's hoping, hoping, hoping to bring peace and justice to the world.....this just might win him the crown of miss universe Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

It was probably the other way around ... the bands got some exposure thanks to Obama's adoring European fan base. Smiley

Did he mention Afghanistan?

Egalitarianism is simply absurd

The Europeans aren't doing a darn thing anywhere. They are not relevant and consciously chose a pacifist course in what will always be a world replete with aggression. Moreover, they were able to choose such a course only because the US armed forces are the West's armed forces for all intents and purposes.

I plan on reading Where Have All the Soldiers Gone?. It examines Europe's gunshyness and how it must end if Europe is to retain some relevance in the world.

Isn't Europe attempting to become slightly more self-sufficient in this area? As the scarred generation that lived through WWII retires and the younger, more pragmatic generation gains influence?

Well I have been following Sarkozy here and there ever since he co-opted the NF platform. He appears to "get it". He understands that no one cares about France becauze France has no muscle.

Well, probably because he is not in favor of eternal war for eternal peace.

You know, there was scarcely a year that the Roman Empire was at peace? John Keegan described the Roman state as one with a "pathological security complex".

Most tend to think of it at its greatest during the Pax Romana, when war and expansion were at a minimum...

I've read several books on the Roman military but I shoud pick a good overall history of Rome. I know I should probably read Edward Gibbon's The Decline and Fall... but I'll probably grab something a little more recent.
