It is better than being an alcoholic and failed businessman as Bush was.

OswaldTheOsprey

Don't get me started on Bush. Wink

actually even a failed business man would possess real world experience in the economy, what works in a free market and what does not.  valuable experience but clearly not to the level of directing locals to the nearest homeless shelter or social service agency... Grin Grin Grin

What Obama has achieved has been accomplished through his own talent and hard work. What would Bush have accomplished without his father's name and money?

Not to defend Shrub (or Grump), but I think that Shrub could have handled community organizing just fine.  It isn’t intellectually challenging and would have given him much more opportunity party.

this is more than a little silly.  looking at the material provided by scaybeez, there is no indication that bo did or accomplished anything, nothing, zilch, zip, nada.  bo was paid by the tax payers to hang out and direct locals to the nearest handout.  what does become apparent is that bo was working closely with the local churches most significantly trinity united.  clearly he must have been well aware of trinity's mission statement which most charitably is described as black liberation but is more accurately described as black separatist.

While I can understand how someone who is already pessimistic about Obama might reach that conclusion, to me, it seems that anyone who has done any organizing in their community would understanding that Obama's role here was to talk to the people of that community, learn what their grievances are, and help THEM to organize and do something about.  The initiative was meant to be the responsibility of the community and his job was mainly to work behind the scenes, point them in the right direction, and give them the tools they needed to do something about their own lives.  He wasn't being paid to be a savior.  He was being paid to be a man behind the curtain.

Very good points.
