Kill them! Kill them twice!

yes you were wrong and of course i was/am right and you should check your facts.  none of the sects in iraq hate each other any more than liberals hate this country there expression of that hate is merely more direct.
i could easily justify the invasion but we are there so why waste the time on that merry go round. an illegal invasion?  what the hell does that mean?  are you saying that the security interests of this nation should be subject to the will of the un??  as for your and mine consumption of gas i am merely interjecting a degree of reality into the discussion.  if we were to wakeup tomorrow and there was no gas/oil to be had this country would be beset in armed civil strife literally over night.

Enlistments are way down. The only way they could meet last year’s goal

enlistments are down but enlistment goals are met?  is it even necessary to address the ridiculous nature of this statement?
as for OUR  glorious leader it is not about liking or disliking your statements.  i merely point out that your blind hate of one man has you willing to buy into defeat for a nation.

"The U.S. Military Academy at West Point was founded to educate career officers for the Army, and upon graduation each officer owes Uncle Sam five years on active duty. The hope is that most will remain for a full career, and historically just 28.8 percent have opted out after five years.

A total of 35 percent of the West Point Class of 2000 left the Army in 2005; 46 percent of the Class of 2001 left in 2006, and a staggering 58 percent of the Class of 2002 left active duty when their obligation expired this year.
...
Just over half a percent of our 300 million citizens carry the entire burden and make all the sacrifices in an inexcusably unfinished war of necessity in Afghanistan and a costly war of choice in Iraq."

You were absolutely right that that recruitment statement was a bit vague, so I'll let someone else do the talking. Here are some comments from an ultra-liberal member on the House Armed Services Committee, Duncan Hunter

http://republicans.armedservices.house.gov/news/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=314

The army's force levels are slightly lower than what they are authorized to be. In spite of the fact that the army has lowering it's recruiting standards, they barely met last years recruiting goals.

It also seems that the effort to expand the army by 40,000 troops over the next 5 or 6 years is in jeopardy because it is so difficult to recruit people, even with the increased bonuses and waivers for people who normally would not be considered.

Of course, if the people who support the war would just run down to the enlistment office and sign up or send THEIR sons and daughters to war, the recruiting problems would go away.

Why aren't more republicans who support the war willing to fight it?

again the insight of the left is stunning.  in the midst of an unpopular war, a war bastardized on a daily basis by the media, left and the dem party, a war lead by the most unholy of presidents...recruitment is difficult.
as for recruiting standards whether it be education level or criminal record not sure but would bet that military enlistees compare favorably with the general population?  say why don't you google it?

If Americans thought the cause was just, there would be no shortage of volunteers. Just look at what happened right after 9/11. But few want to fight Georgie's war ... even those that support it as vehemently as you do.

There's an interesting article in the NY Times today, in just three years, the Iraqi government has managed to come in third in the list of most corrupt goverments (Somalia and Myanmar being the top two). That's what our half trillion dollars (charged to next few generations of Americans), 3,882 soldiers lives, injuries to tens of thousands of american soldiers, and tens if not hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths have bought.

Heck of a job Georgie!

why not post the nyt it is clear that this is where your thought process begins and ends.  sadly you believe that this is george's war seemingly unable to appreciate that the consequences of surrender will be borne by this nation.  your elected leaders looked or did not, at the intel and believed that saddam had wmd and in doing so post 9-11 constituted a clear and present danger.  i voted for the war but was really against the war before i publicly stated that i was against the war and now , well let me get back to you....
