I saw Bob Barr interviewed on Fox News Sunday. He was very slick, but his explanation for voting for the Patriot Act and the Iraq War were no different from Hillary Clinton's - "the Administration misled me." Why do these politicians believe presenting themselves as naive is going to get them votes?

I question Bob Barr's sincerity as a libertarian. He voted for Iraq, wrote the "Defense of Marriage Act" & opposed same-sex marriage, supported the War on Drugs, opposed medical marijuana, opposed abortion at the federal level, and even called for the Pentagon to ban the practice of Wicca in the military.
He has since reversed most of these stances, but only AFTER he left the republican party.
Personally, I'd give him more latitude if he just came out and said, "After careful consideration, I think I was just wrong on these issues." rather than acting like a typical politician.
As an aside, Mike Gravel (who lost both the dem nomination and the LP nomination) is supporting Jesse Johnson for the Green Party nomination. Jesse will almost certainly lose to Cynthia McKinney (former congresswoman from Barr's home state) due to her name recognition, just as Kubby & Ruwart lost to Barr.
I'm getting so sick of politics that I could scream.

Ron Paul just lays it on the line. His message is inspirational. I prefer a lack-luster speaker with a real message to a glossy-slick speaker who has nothing to say. The latter reminds me of most of the politicians in the 2008 cycle.

Very good post. The GOP has been shameless in the way it has treated both Dr. Paul and Pat Buchanan. Likewise the Democrats have been cheap, shabby and cruel in their treatment of Ralph Nader. The duopoly shows utter contempt for real dissent. Damn them both. OswaldTheOsprey

Plus, you're the first guy here other than me to use the term " duopoly", which gets you big points in my book (hahahaha!).

Kucinich is a good guy – stands by what he beliefs no matter what the cost, unlike Obama and Clinton. They jump around when new poll data comes out. Gravel is okay, but not the best public speaker. He’s 78, too.
