The U.N. has no armed force, correct? The blue helmet guys are loaned, so to speak, from the armed forces of member nations in the region where intervention is planned, correct?

I for one would like to see the UN use mercenaries in hot spots like Darfur.  The public doesn’t get so queasy when mercs die.

And they are only limited to peace-keeping, right? Whatever that means.

UN Forces are limited to whatever the Security Council states.  To date it has been only peace keeping.  Even when people were being slaughtered around them in Africa....

I have no doubt in my military mind that the UN is nothing more that a weak-tit mafia.  Its power is derived from us, and for some inconceivable reason, we have not had the balls to yank out its underpinnings and tell the criminals to go fuck themselves.
