spunk was there something you wanted to say?

Yes.  Besides "Stop confusing my words with other peoples'", guns have always been and should remain legal.  I don't understand why nun chucks are illegal.  I got busted for having two butter knives taped together on a chain.
are you going on record as being in opposition to the dc gun law?

I haven't read up on it--but if it entails taking people's guns away just because of their proximity to the nation's capital, then yeah.  I oppose it.  What, does that make me a conservative or something more evil? Smiley

the courts have already established that constitutional protections may be regulated/limited in the face of compelling governmental interest.  no baghdad the supremes will not likely deliver some hard or even general guidelines but rather look directly at the question at hand, that being whether dc's ban on hand guns and requirements with regards to rifles/shotguns exceeds reasonable restriction violating both the text and intent of the second amendment.  there will be lots of banter placed within the dissenting opinions to provide the platform for future challenges.  spunk if you haven't any knowledge of the issue yet still possess an opinion and further express your opinion while acknowledging that you have no idea as to what you might be talking about, that makes you an idiot and most definately a dem/lib .

Actually every Iraqi male can own an AK-47.  They are not supposed to own PRGs, but this prohibition is not enforced.  In reality the Iraqi’s have a much greater respect for our 2nd Amendment that we do.

no you believe in perpetual adolescence.  the sovereignty you aspire to is without responsibility.  still you never answered the question at hand. support or oppose the dc gun law?  can this nation endure, should this nation endure a supreme court reloaded by mrs bill or bo?  does this concern merit a vote for little mac??

Again building straw men. Really, must we go down this road again, or do you truly keep forgetting that libertarian philosophy does not reject responsibility, but demands it? Do you keep forgetting that I believe more strongly in the 2nd amendment than you?

The sovereignty I "aspire to" is not without responsibility. It is, however, without the mandatory military service that you call for. It is without the theft of tax dollars to support institutions with which one may not agree that do not allow for an opt-out. It is without others to blame. The sovereignty YOU support is little different in practice from the left you despise so much, except you get to carry a gun when you vote for yet another tax hike and another piece of the pie for your special interest group, and it is the kind that keeps minimizing personal responsibility and handing over more & more of it to Uncle Sam.

The DC gun ban was a stupid idea and an even stupider law.

No, this concern does not merit a vote for McCain. He is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Choose the lesser of 2 evils and, even if you win, you still get evil.

this was all you ever had to say.  although you might have mentioned that the dc gun law on its face violates the constitution.

I thought it obvious that it violates the constitution. However, that debate rages still. Do states have the authority to regulate guns in any way, and if so, where is the line?

Where do YOU draw the line?

A moderate democrat is much better than a liberal democrat. Hell, Obama could admit to being a serial killer and those hypnotized by him like stepford wives would support this guy. I am alarmed by how so many can be taken in by this con artist. All I can figure is that they may be either extremely weakminded or lack self confidence and are looking for a savior. You have to save yourself dammit!!! Barack Obama cannot and will not.  Angry  He could'nt care less about you guys.

Politicians are not supposed to have power over us

« Reply #55 on: April 23, 2008, 01:45:45 PM »

You all could consider voting Libertarian as well, all the social freedom associated with the Democrats and all of the economic freedom and freedom from intrusive government that the Republicans are suppose to protect us from. And it looks like there were be some half way decent LP candidates running for the Libertarian nomination, Bob Barr from Georgia and Mike Gravel (who doesnt strike me as much of a libertarian) and there is still hope that Ron Paul will continue his presidential bid. Just remember there is more to politics than Democrat and Republican.

Well with Bob Barr looking to end out of control government spending, push for real tax reform (ie. repealing the income tax), following the constitution's instructions on the role of Federal government, ending Bush's foreign policy, using a non-interventionist foreign policy, and respecting other nation's sovereignty he seems like as good a candidate as any.
