agreed. i don't know who would be worse, matthews or olbermann, but russert was one of the last. scheiffer (sp?) on cbs is good, but kind of bland imho...i dislike fox news generally speaking but i think britt hume is outstanding...there are very few good professional journalists. many of the new breed think they are bigger than the stories they cover and think they can make their point by shouting loudly.

Hume is good, too. I don’t know if NBC would be willing to pick a guy from Fox News, though.

oh, right, i was just trying to think of good professionals who i respected. i don't know how that works...like i said it sounded like a number of the fox guys had worked w/ russert at nbc before fox news was in existence so maybe there is some connection there. i dont really have any idea who will host meet the press but i bet chris matthews is working hard to make it happen, he always wanted to be tim russert and i guess this is his opportunity.

Chris Matthews annoys the bloody hell out of me. Pretty much EVERYBODY on MSNBC annoys the bloody hell out of me.

i dont really watch either very much...most of the crap on there and cnn is sensationalist trash. i'd rather read the news stories i want online. i was horrified to see ABC News interviewing those traumatized boy scouts and showing video of the very small feet of dead children. there is no professionalism any more, exploiting those kids to 'get the story'. those kids didnt need to be reliving the deaths of their troop friends w/ charles gibson or whoever it was.

you saw that too pitty? yes, it was veery upsetting...first a tragedy to happen to these kids and then secondly the media to try to exploit it. the media needs  a reality check.

I didn't see Meet the Press this morning but I'm glad Brokaw was the moderator. I respect him and think he is a very professional journalist who respects all aspects of America. It would be great if he stuck around but I think he is probably enjoying retirement.

I can't say that I'm all that familiar with Russert but judging from what I've seen why would anyone refer to him as a Leftist shill? He is certainly a Democrat but he's old school is he not. Excuse me...was.

don't know but i doubt it...that was before my time but i know he is from one of the dakotas and greatly admires/respects the us armed forces
