Celebrities endorsing politicians is nothing new. Here, in 1912, Ty Cobb, left, endorses Woodrow Wilson for president. OswaldTheOsprey

Milwaukee, October 1931: A group of Marquette University students pose for the camera. The coatless student in the center with his arms on two colleagues is future U.S. Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. OswaldTheOsprey

Interesting. Do you collect historical photos? I collect all kinds of relics and artifacts but they are most often of a martial nature.

Does Churchill not look dejected, Stalin self-satisfied, and FDR as clueless as ever in this photo?

Reagan: Okay, these two Russian guys are talking one day. The one Russian guy says, "Hey, I bought a new TV set yesterday." The other goes, "Oh, yeah?" Then he said, "Yeah, but it won't get here for another ten years or so."

I would imagine that everyone has seen this infamous image. It was found in a German soldier's mail. Apparently, he had sent it home. On the back it read, Police action, Kiev 1942

I collect early WW1 uniform articles. These color shots of the First World War are treasures. These are Frenchmen.

I collect old photos, newspapers, magazines and college yearbooks from the early 1900s (roughly 1900-1935). Odd but enjoyable. OswaldTheOsprey

French colonial infantryman from Chad or Senegal, perhaps? A large number of colonials served on the Western Front.

I have an English newspaper from the early 19th century. I can't remember the year but it was printed during the Napoleonic Wars. How does one care for such an item? How do you store yours? I have a small collection of documents etc but they are all from the 20th century. I put them in the plastic frames you use to protect posters.

Old newspapers are funny in that some are fragile and crinkly while others are as firm and solid as this morning's paper. It is very enjoyable-especially to view the past through its own documents rather than someone's interpretation today. OswaldTheOsprey
