Berlin June 1919: Destitute beaten citizens of the new Weimar republic. OswaldTheOsprey And the unjust treatment of the vanquished by the victors caused WWII. Even the total war of WWI was not enough to prevent another, even more destructive war.

I think it would be more accurate to say that it caused Nazism to be more popular than it otherwise would have been. War broke out only because the West refused to act.

That is certainly correct. But the world’s failure to stop Hitler doesn’t counter my claim that the Treaty of Versailles set the stage for WWII.

Agreed. It certainly set the stage. I just shy away from chalking huge events like that (do they get any bigger?) up to single causes.

"What ifs" are always fascinating. I wonder what the European reaction to Soviet Russia would have been without the Nazi bulwark.

Good point. Germany and the Central Powers capitulated based on the Fourteen Points. The Versailles Treaty was a damned disgrace. OswaldTheOsprey Schweinhund in top hats.

"What ifs" are always fascinating. I wonder what the European reaction to Soviet Russia would have been without the Nazi bulwark. It is an interesting question. I am not sure that the Soviets acted upon any expansionist policies prior to the breaking of the Nazi-Soviet Non Aggression Pact. Not that I believe they didn’t want to- that is after all the goal of communism. At least Marx was smart enough to state that the workers of the world would unite of their own accord.

21st March 1962: A muslim grocery shop in Belcourt, Algiers wrecked in a bomb attack carried out by the OAS (Organisation de L'Armee Secrete), a French nationalist terrorist group opposed to the independence of Algeria. 17 people were killed in the attack. OAS (Organization de L'Armee Secrete). The revolt by the OAS was suppressed in a few days, but the OAS continued to until the bitter end.I know it's wrong but I'm into Right wing radicalism. Thankfully, I'm becoming more and more conservative.
