I know this is a right-winged book being advertised on a right-winged organization, but I was curious as to what some of you think about this book based on the review. I thought it is an interesting topic for discussion and fair to post because I don't believe you need to be left or right to agree or disagree with the book.

Stupid Black Men

In his book Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose, Larry Elder provides a clear and compelling analysis, showing that the worst enemies of black Americans are self-appointed “black leaders” and their white liberal allies who use race-baiting as a sinister tool to further their socialist agenda.

Elder boldly turns the spotlight on those who shout about racism and unfairness, while promoting a victimhood mentality that harms poor black people, the very group the race-baiters claim they want to help.  Urban blacks are mired in poverty, Elder points out in his book, because they are discouraged from accepting responsibility for their own self-destructive personal conduct and, instead, blame “the man”.  Blacks are led to believe that they can’t realize the American dream and won’t survive without affirmative action.  Liberals have stifled black progress, convincing blacks that their vote only counts if it's a liberal vote along racial lines.  Elder’s book is highly recommended for all who want to have a window into the warped world of liberalism.

I agree with it for the most part also, however I am disappointed with the repubs in the country for not pointing this out. To me it seems like a easy win for the them. Perhaps it is their silence that reaffirms the racist notion people get when thinking about repubs.

I srongly encourage someone who disagrees with the review to say a few words.

i know i'm considered a liberal but i would tend to agree with that blurb...my own opinion of people like sharpton is that they fabricate and milk racial disharmony for personal gain. and it disgusts me.

Well some consider you a liberal. I would say that Spunk and Gunit are more liberal. I suspect you have liberal sympathies like Vermouth but I wouldn't say you are a full fledged lib.

I'm sure Grumpy will disagree and say you are a liberal pansy  Cheesy but I honestly think you are a moderate if a bit left-of-center.

I think the ideas described in the book review are becoming more widespread. The younger generation of black leaders don't buy into the victim mentality. Affirmative action was misguided.

Conley, only if you lived in San Francisco would you be considered moderate. Wink
