i guess for starters the people using the word 'racist' could define what it means to them

if you believe there are differences between the races does that make you a racist? and following that...if there is a difference and you prefer one side of whatever the difference is, does that make you a racist? because you prefer that component thus making it seem superior? its all very complicated, i dont think we should just go throwing that word around because a) it can mean many different things and b) even tho mister d doesn't care what you call him, some folks  like broken-hearted skeet can get very upset bout that sort of thing

There are certainly differences between the races. As I have intimated to Grumpy before these aren't matters of superiority and inferiority at least as far as I am concerned. Yes, racist is a badly abused term.

i don't know why whites are racist, do you?  i do know that several regular visitors to this site regularly express what i would characterize as racist and bigoted views.  i have never accused you of being racist.  it is you who stumble along, explaining how both blacks and whites are racist, how your all in for little mac, but maybe mrs bill, but never ever bo.....still you never discuss the policy/philosophical differences that dictate these choices.  regarding my obvious disdain for mrs bill.  mrs bill is a totally corrupt kling-on whose political existence is due only to her attachment to mr bill, also totally corrupt.  this is not based upon some misogynistic leaning, rather she has a long record of criminal, ethical and moral failings.  bo to my knowledge does not have the same baggage.  as for the rev wright bs....it has been hyped beyond recognition and now provides cover for those dems who do not want to elect a black man.  i believe that you are typical of the dem party and libs in general.  you want desperately to lay liberal tracks across society and can barely contain yourself at the prospects of jumping that liberal train to your govt provided nirvana.  still, you find comfort in old, white, libs conducting the train!

We are merely rationalist that believe in the here and now, we have no afterlife to worry about investing into. We must be concerned with what we have and what our descendants will be stuck with.

Does anyone genuinely think that I am a racist? If so, why? Mind you, my feelings aren't hurt. 

I once had a friend much older than me. He said something that smacked of racism and caught the look in my eye. "Look, like most southern men my age, I'm a passive racist."

Some people are ardent (& hostile) about it, some people just have a definite feeling of superiority, and some don't even realize the shit they say is racially biased.

Do I think you are a racist? Of course. I think all of us harbor racist tendencies. Afterall, it's programmed into our DNA. Biases based on race and religion and gender and whatnot are rooted deeper into our limbic system than the rhythm required for bi-ped locomotion. The trick is looking it in the eye, embracing it for what it is, and then deciding if it has a rational basis every time it creeps up...like in one's political stance on a given issue, for example. Do this enough, and you develop a filtering process that removes all but the healthiest cautions.

There is a place for your ID, but it isn't political philosophy or treatment of people who are in any way different.

I don't know if I am a racist or not. I don't believe my race is better than others, I don't feel superior to people of other races, I hate to be around people who say neg. things about other races, But then, its getting to the point now a days that even when I say something like black sheep of the family, I feel I will be tagged as a racist. Its wierd, never used to be this way. I do believe that most people,make way too much of race. People I know never even talk about it. This election is the worse when it comes to using race against people where its not intended.

I have a friend in Houston who is very racist against whites. She sayas I am the only white person she likes. She hates blacks from other countries. Hates Obama, says he is not black. Loves Hillary though. She will talk about the white race forever and never even stop to think how that makes me feel. But I do like her, she is a very nice person in most ways.
