Egalitarianism is simply absurd

I understand this is coming out soon? I'm sure it will be unbiased  Roll Eyes I thought Platoon was well done even if it was essentially propaganda. This new flick just looks awkward. I predict that the depiction of Bush's faith will be an appalling caricature.

I think it’s going to be released sometime in October. I don’t have much respect for Oliver Stone. Didn’t this guy praise Fidel Castro once?

No, Hugo Chavez is their favorite now. He thinks he’s the next Castro.

I saw a clip on CNN about this movie yesterday. It's the first I remember hearing about it. From what I saw, it sucks and will probably bomb at the box office. The folks who think geedubya's farts don't stink won't watch it and the rest of the people are sick and tired of him and don't really give a rat's ass about him anymore.

Can it make money and be propaganda at the same time? Platoon was an anti-war propaganda film.

For instance, Stone's depiction of poor American morale may be reasonably accurate for the early 1970s but the movie takes place in 1967. US morale reached it's zenith in 1968. In other words, at the height of our involvement in Vietnam troop morale was high and Stone's portrayal of the attitudes of American servicemen is off and by a long shot. To be fair, Stone was not concerned with accuracy. He was concerned about driving his view of the Vietnam War home to his audience.

Ahh, I see. If anything I thought it glorified war. Sure it was gore filled but those guys seemed like heroes to me. And there was the whole fictional battle between those two guys (Dafoe? and the other guy) which would probably have a bad effect on a unit. I really liked it.

I can assure you it was not meant to glorify war. The clash between Barnes and Elias was supposed to represent a more general clash among US troops that simply did not exist at the time.

I liked it too. The night combat scene is one of the best combat scenes ever, IMHO.
