Living is easy with eyes closed

« on: June 08, 2008, 02:58:44 AM »

I've been without weed for a day or two. (Can you tell?)  But, tonight I went and got drunk at the neighbors.  LET ME TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED...

Me, my step-sister and my step-brother were drinking and playing games with my dad's younger neighbors.  They are young parents whose kids are away for the weekend, so they invited us over for some drinks and games.

When the guys all got egotistical and started comparing themselves to each other, they broke out the weight scale to see who weighs the most.  Some how my stepbrother offended somebody and was asked to put the scale away.   Huh  So, in a drunken rage, he took off in his truck because he was pissed at everybody.

I tried to stop him, but he rolled up his window and locked his fucking door, and then he ran over my bare foot while peeling out of the driveway.  I have a limp and bloody foot now, and my good old drunk feeling is worn off because of it. Angry

Nobody knows where the fuck he is, and it's been an hour.  Probably pulled over, in jail, or in an accident.

SOMEBODY TELL ME.  Would this kind of thing ever happen if we were all smoking weed instead?

Those who smoke weed have been proven to be more laid back than those who drink alcohol.

I don’t smoke weed, nor do I drink alcohol. I’m quite bitter.

Welcome David.

Well, having read only one post of yours--I don't find you to be bitter.

Drugs don't cure bitterness, though.  On the contrary, alcohol can bring out the worst in people when the right trigger is pushed.  But when consumed moderately, it can be very relaxing.

You're right about weed, though.  It's very hard to get angry or irrational when you're stoned.  It's when you're sober that your mood can swing.

My step brother did make it home alright last night, by the way.  My foot still hurts though, and when he wakes up, I'm kicking his ass.

My father was an alcoholic – I’m aware of what that stuff can do. Luckily, though, he wasn’t abusive. He just locked himself in the bathroom until the next morning.

Instead of kicking his ass, take his pillow, fart on it, and put it back under his head.

I am so mature.

It’s not technically my idea – it was featured in Knocked Up. Good movie.

That sucks about your foot. Hope it gets better.

I agree that alcohol makes you irrational and can cause your temper to flare. I know this doesn't happen to everyone, but I had to quit smoking because I was horribly paranoid and self-conscience. I was having some serious suicidal thoughts when while under its influence in my teens. I had to dropped it cold.

I've had it a few times since, maybe once every 2-3 years or so and I haven't gotten like that.

I drink moderately now but even back in college (and the first couple years after  Grin) I drank a lot of beer. I never act out and I am usually so quiet people don't even realize that I'm there. My nature doesn't change under the influence but I have seen (as I am sure we all have) alcohol affet  some people in different ways. Botton line: if you can't hold your liquor, so to speak, find another method of relaxation.

Very good advice; for anybody.

I don't have problems when I drink, but then again I don't get hammered all the time.  Usually a few beers does me just fine.

It's when I start with the hard liquor that I start not to trust my judgment.

Bored, sorry to hear about your scary time with weed.  Indeed, it does increase paranoia.  It has a weird effect on people who are sensitive and self conscious.  It increases your insecurity while you are high--some more than others.  Marijuana, like alcohol, is classified as a depressant.  Yet for some, including me, it can have the opposite effect--calming and relaxing.

Did anybody ever watch "Reefer Madness"?  Hilarious.  Ridiculous, and absurdly inaccurate. Cheesy

I smoked for the last time when I was 21. I became so self-conscious I was just praying for the high to end. Well I did smoke once last year but it's very rare for me.

I need to apologize, this kinda don't make sense--using a bad scenario to promote weed. Roll Eyes  I was drunker than I thought, and wanting to smoke a jay. Grin

Marijuana needs to be legalized. The federal government is wasting billions of dollars on a failed conservative experiment.

Personal choice is important in a democracy. If you want to smoke marijuana, that should be your business and nobody else’s. Appropriate regulation would probably include taxation.

Why do you say this is a failed conservative experiment?

You have to admit that the War on Drugs has largely been a conservative cause. I know Bill Clinton supported it, but he didn’t help the situation. There are tons of Democrats who support the War on Drugs...
