first, 5%, 10% the numbers are irrelevant.  second, i have never met or discussed this issue with jesus and therefore have no idea what he might do.  it is not personal.  i could care less what homosexuals, gays, lesbians or whatever they might call themselves, do in the privacy of their own home between consenting adults.  the question is does society gain or lose by embracing/legitimizing a life style that is clearly the result of some form of psychosexual dysfunction?  society is a fine cloth.  the values, traditions and general concepts of moral behavior function as fundamental threads binding society.  as a culture we have become arrogant and self absorbed.  adolescent.  we discard, disparage and trash the culture that has made this nation great.  rather than cherish and protect this cloth we set about to tear threads from it, by taking the seemingly easier path, one absent responsibility or respect for anything that is not of our desire at this moment.  traditional roles, roles as intended by nature, roles of man, woman, the bond/contract of marriage have all served this nation well and yet we will discard these to appease the winds of culture and the protest of the mentally ill.

I think that these fine (I do not jest) words have been spoken by every generation of every culture….  Yet we remain.

Grum-pee - I can't speak for Com-lee, but I in no way over-complicated an issue in order to justify anything. I simply said homosexuality & bisexuality are not mental illnesses. Period.

As for the Chicken Little-ing about the fabric of the nation, blah, blah, blah....I've heard this since I was a kid. Like Peter, it is my take that you (and every generation who has lamented the loss of "our way of life") are over-reacting. Unlike Peter, it is my belief that due to the degradation you see all around you (not in spite of it), we as a nation are better for the vast majority of it.

When the country was founded, only rich white males could vote. Slavery was accepted as normal and just. The list goes on. All of these issues have been rectified, and more. We are a freer nation with a strong, diverse economy that makes the US the Land of Opportunity. Yes, there are problems with the country - all stemming to an entitlement mentality, in one way or another. That mentality (both the rich & the poor openly embrace their entitlements, I might add) has given us a taxation system that is hurting every demographic, a regulatory system that is crushing every industry, the notion that the majority can run the lives of their neighbors, a weak dollar, and more.

These issues need to be addressed, but with the understanding that we are correcting past mistakes that make us less vibrant - NOT with the mentality that th country sucks or is about to be Rome.

Abortion, sexuality, religion, etc are not the problem. You, like others, are finding only the shadow of a boogey-man while looking in the wrong direction. Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, swingers, bigamists, and others you would label mentally ill or deviant have zero negative impact on what makes the US great. The entitlement mentality that gives welfare to the poor and the rich alike: THAT is the root of all the problems that matter.

Well I respectfully disagree about the nature of homosexuality. It is a pity that mutual suspicion too often clouds these discussions. I do believe that homosexuality is some kind of disorder and I guess the main problem here is that there just isn't a nice way to say that. Oh well...I've said my peace. I also have profound religious objections to homosexuality that are intertwined with my cultural objections. I understand that not everyone shares my religious sensibilities (although I hope you all do some day  ) so I did not bring religion up.

Teenagers are having sex at even earlier ages because no one is paying attention ....why?
