You're still being an ass.

But it's okay, I'll cope.

You failed to address my point, which is that global warming is not some kind of scare tactic.  Look it up.

Spunk:

I am wide awake, Peter.  Climate change is indeed a world issue now, and there is still plenty of people trying to shut everybody else up about it.  I don't know exactly what their motives are, but their--and your--efforts are pointless.

I just hope we can find out what the hell is going on and take care of it quickly enough.

But listening to people--like yourself--trying to tell us that the earth is indeed "cooling" rather than the more observably opposite, will send us backwards.  I'd rather see the evidence, and I don't want the deciding evidence to be two extra feet of ocean water at our doorstep.

I care about the planet, and what is going on.  Not that you don't, but it sure sounds like you're trying to promote a conspiracy.

I was just messing with you Horse-face.

Now that I am back in the states I can enjoy beer and what-not.

There is a big difference between climate change and “global warming.”  Just pay attention to the amounts of money people want to spend (through the power of the State) in order to address “global warming” which is of course only due to evil himan activity.  This should give you a clue that their goal is not to help the Earth but to control your life (and mine).

There is no consensus that climate change is greatly affected by human activity.  That is a fact.

There is only a difference in the idea of it.

The right does not want to recognize that the left had a pretty good idea about what is going on with the climate, so they shot down the left idea and came up with their own.  Hence, people all over blabbing that they KNOW global warming is not happening--instead it is climate change, the right's response to a fear of environmental profiteering.

The dumb reality is that BOTH are happening, although they are not one in the same--climate change is an effect of global warming.

Even when the next ice age comes (which will result from this warming) the right will assess that they KNEW this ice age was coming and that it had nothing to do with global warming.

Yes but the difference is what can be done to lessen global warming?  Spending trillions of dollars to lower carbon dioxide emissions is insanity.  Even if you accept that CO2 heats up the earth, which I do not, the sane scientists out there state that CO2 will only heat the Earth up 1.4 degrees (or something like that).  This is about granting the government more power over our lives.

i dont understand the argument that the left is pushing the global warming debate for their benefit

similarly i think that there is a large range of temperature change this planet has seen in the past and will again, and there is not clear cut evidence we are responsible for global warming in a broad sense.

however, pollution is VERY VERY REAL and you can see that through things like acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer, etc. carbon dioxide is a naturally occuring gas so that is of some comfort but whether it be global warming or something else, we as a species darn well better start picking up after ourselfs. mother nature will send us to our rooms without dinner unless we clean up!!

The left needs no religion.  Only weak-minded righties need it.

The idea that man is the cause of significant global warming is based upon faith, just as the belief that God sent his Son to earth to die for your sins.

There is no scientific evidence for either.

I read an article online that reported a global temperature increase on mars. This alone indicates to me that it is a natural occurrence.

In the words of the late george carlin "...we're merely along for the ride. At any time the earth can just shake us off like a bad case of the fleas..."
