Electricity generated by nuclear plants is the most expensive utility-supplied electricity in the United States.

More expensive than electricity generated from coal, oil, natural gas, etc.

What effect would the US converting to nuclear to power cities have on the OPEC nations?

I thought nuclear was cheaper? It is cleaner, right?

is this due to attached regulation, regulation designed to discourage the employment of nuclear technology.  always wondered why the states did not form a coalition per se employing electric vehicles for all non-emergency govt vehicles??  if for instance the govs of 50 states approached gm and said they were looking for electric powered vehicles, would gm say we can't help you??

Good question. I was thinking the same thing.

well obviously this would depend on the initial cost of those raw materials -- coal, oil and natural gas

as you are so fond of pointing out, oil and nat gas have spiked quite a bit over the past year

so this is not an absolute -- and the other points about regulation are very good ones as well
