I've had a huge grudge for years from those bullshit credit cards you get at some stores like Best Buy or Macy's. These are literally the worst things ever.

Not if you use them responsibly. I have a Best Buy, Lowes and Home Depot credit card. I read the fine print before applying for them. I knew what kind of interest they were charging. The only reason I got them is that all of these stores occassionally have 0% interest for 6/12 months deals.

I got my HDTV from Best Buy with a 3 year no interest deal. It will be paid off by the end of the year .. eight months early.

I've bought appliances from Lowes & Home Depot .. same thing ... they get paid off before they are due.

I have to agree with Gunit here.  If you are smart you can get good deals out of these cards.

I also agree. I put myself in a bad position when I needed to redirect funds I left myself bent over. I used the cards sparingly and never maxed them out. I was just starting out and didn't read the fine print. I learned the hard way I suppose.

That's usually the ONLY way folks learn something. That's certainly true in my case. Several years ago I got myself too far in debt. My fault ... no one else's. Worked my ass off to get out of it and said NEVER again.

Egalitarianism is simply absurd

I love credit cards. Throughout college they enabled me to live comfortably with a part time job. I rang up some debt, no doubt. They also enabled me to live comfortably when I was deliverying pizzas with my history degree. In all I think my credit card debt topped out at 12-13 grand? This included a car and computer. Once I had a "real job" I got a handle on it and eventually eliminated it entirely. It's easy when you are single, that's for sure. Think about it this way: I have a debt that I'm paying the minimum on and then all of a sudden I'm making 10-15K more per year. Then I'm manking 20K more. The debt is slain and fast. Am I living any differently? No. I'm still drinking cheap light beers (drinking a Keystone Light right now) and living the way I always have. Granted, I sometimes see a piewce of militaria that I must have. What's that, 500 bucks? Who cares? My spending habits have changed little in 10 years but my income has tripled.

Are you still jobless?
