i think it should be open regardless. i agree the clintons should be held to the same standards. its basically impossible to divide the finances of a married couple. for mccain's campaign spending, it is a little easier to track where the money comes from and goes to, but in general they share the wealth (like any married couple) and thus i think it should all be open. if mccain were to receive an infusion of cash from cindy i would think it would be easy to disguise it with the bundlers, the PACs and all that stuff. they could even use someone without a criminal record, unlike norman hsu (duh! good job hill). i don't think mccain wants cindy's money in this anyway though.

neither mccain nor bush seem very good at math

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican John McCain says he raised more than $21 million in June, his best month so far in terms of fundraising.

McCain's campaign also spent nearly $26 million, more than double what he spent in May. Most of that went toward advertising.

I guess this is what we have to look forward to from either candidate -- DEFICITS ...clearly mccain is not fiscally responsible, and as he himself admits, numbers and economics makes his head spin.

Hopefully he had at least a $5M surplus going into June.

yeah it was just a misguided attempt at humor  Wink

seriously though when you think about how much money these guys are spending, and where the money is coming from, it's no wonder that things in DC don't change. the powers that be with that much money don't want anything to change, they've done quite well.

And that is the change that people are voting for!  Ironic, isn’t it.  The Republicans should have gone for Dr. Paul.  Despite his flaws he would not be controlled by these interests.

There are also reports coming out that Obama raised $25 million on the last day of June .... more than McSame raised in the entire month.

Oh ... and the average donation ... $68 ...

That's what has republicans scared. There are so many folks who are sending in monthly donations of $25, 50, 100 .... it's overwhelming the big money folks who want to keep control of Washington.

Boy, aren’t they going to be disappointed when they realize that Obama is a bought-and-paid-for politician like 99.9% of the others?

Don't burst Gunit's bubble. He is under the illusion that Repubs are far Right (whatever that means) rather than Dem lite.

I, for one, would be interested in finding out who are the puppet masters of Barack Obama.

Not entirely true.  I do suspect that most “puppet-masters” for any politician are indeed wealthy, although not all are.  This includes the PMs for democrats, even those that claim they desire Change.

I think that it is fitting to capitalize change when used in the context offered by the Magic Negro and his mind-numbed robots (Change-bots?)- it is not being used as a verb, but a noun- and it has become a proper noun since it has such obvious importance to our lives.

McCain is going to more more of an infusion of just cash from his wife.  Maybe some kind of backbone would be a start.  Then throw in some kind of geography lesson and then maybe a bit of history on Iraq so he knows which groups are doing what within its borders.  Maybe a pinch of common sense and then add a dash of intuition instead of the rote replies and responses that are the norm.

Then and only then will that doddering old fool that the Republican Party will regret more than any Democrat will ever miss Mike Dukackis have any sort of chance in November.  This is going to be a shift of massive proportions in this country and McCain is going to end up under his own bus when it is over.

He can't pick staff, he can't hold a position, he is going to have his entire voting record jammed down his throat, he can't even use the sitting president to his own advantage and he is just an overall unimaginative, past tense, weatherbeaten chump.

When was the last time you heard of the Obama camp shifting anyone in any position on their campaign staff ??  When was the last time he was the butt of a joke for looking like a misinformed oaf Huh

It is not a matter of whether McCain is as dumb or as close to dumb or even dumber than Bush (president who cannot even pronounce the word "nuclear") it is a matter of his opponent being a better candidate, a better politician, a better speaker, a man with more passion and just a better choice.

THE END

I would agree that Obama appears to be the better candidate to those who rally to Change.  I suspect that once Obama has been in politics for as long as Little Mac, your tirade against Little Mac will be just as applicable to the Magic Negro.

Until the day comes when Obama (cute name Magic Negro) does rack up a record like Old Mac, you will have what you have.  Until then, we get to go after the old man with vim and vigor and only hope that there is more to Obama than just "change"
It is a large factor working in his favor, but there is more to him than that and the first prime example of what he is capable is the network he has put together from day one to run this marathon known as a campaign.  No major shifts, no firing, no title changing, no money issues, no donation issues, no infighting, no egos, no leaking issues (personal or otherwise) to the NY Times, no speaking out of turn and no one-upping the actual candidate.

If only Bush, Old Mac or Hillary could say that.
