I wonder if everyone he's asked has said no WASHINGTON - John McCain said Thursday he had yet to decide on a running mate. The Republican presidential candidate has a rally scheduled for Saturday in Pennsylvania, where he is expected to appear with his newly announced vice presidential choice. He said in the interview that he was bringing both former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, two of the leading names on his short list. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26438378

gunnit: everything you post is mindless trash talk, void of any original thought or logic. Why do you even bother?
Think about it: McCain hasn't finalized his pick yet. However, he's indicated that he WILL announce his pick in the next few days. Logic would dictate that if he's set a rough deadline to announce his pick, he is still whittling down his list of willing candidates.
What about this situation has caused your feeble mind to lend any credence to the notion that everybody he's asked has said "no?"
I guess if you can't compete with intellect you just attack, attack, attack with sophomoric smears. Typical.

This just in from Politico: John McCain made his VP selection earlier this week, but did not inform reporters of his choice; historically, it has been a typical move for a nominee to build suspense before their decision is announced, but in the case of McCain, it has presented a unique set of liabilities. Namely, the strength of such a suspense building move in previous elections has rested heavily on one key presumption: that the nominee will remember the choice they have made.
McCain had reportedly invited the chosen runningmate to one of his homes yesterday to inform him of the choice, but when pressed today, the GOP nominee directed questions about exactly which home to his staff. Campaign sources speaking off the record painted a grim picture: that McCain cannot remember who the pick was or where he left them, and that the announcement deadline tomorrow is quickly approaching.
Complicating matters is the fact that McCain does not trust any of his top staff, each with their own political motivations, not to substitute their own pick in a different house and claim it was the choice from the beginning. McCain has reportedly also voiced concerns that Joe Lieberman, stowing away at one of his houses, would swear up and down he was the pick all along."

I'm not dishing anything out. I'm calling you out for being a moron and posting nothing of intellectual value. Why would anybody exert so much effort to post such little content? You absolutely refuse to get involved in discussing contemporary issues or the merits of various political philosophies; you just belittle anybody who tries to. Most everybody who engages in thoughtful discussion here thinks you're an idiot, so I'm really mystified as to what you could possibly get out of your "nee-ner, nee-ner, neeee-nurrr" posts. I guess since you can't contribute you choose to obstruct. Very infantile behavior- though quite common on the web. If you want to appeal to the lowest common denominator and bicker back and forth with the same old, tired, smear-based rhetoric, I have to imagine there are larger sites with more posting activity where you could get all the immediate attention you little heart desires. Didn't McSame say that we had to keep a "sense of humor" when GOP scumbags throw slime against the wall about Obama I do this for entertainment ... not solve the world's problems. And because patriotic, conservative, republicans have become experts at doing exactly the same thing. I have no illusions that anything I say, seriously or snarkly, will have any impact on anyone's opinion. The attitude and opinions of the folks who rant on this board are so ingrained that nothing anyone says will alter their own opinion. So why not have some fun using the same tactics they have perfected

I do this for entertainment ... not solve the world's problems. And because patriotic, conservative, republicans have become experts at doing exactly the same thing. ... So why not have some fun using the same tactics they have perfected ... I don't see that (on this board, at least) to the degree your post implies. Is it really that fun (or the least bit intellectually stimulating, for that matter) to change McCain to mcsame, preface "republicans" with "patriotic, conservative" (btw if you haven't noticed: most conservatives are fed up with the Republican party so you're just making yourself look even goofier), refer to Bush as "dear leader," or any of the other silly shit you do? If that's what floats your boat then live how you want to live, buddy, and I'll just try to do a better job of ignoring you. I just don't understand your approach to the situation: you've got a relatively small, stable, consistent group of ideologically diverse people who are willing to entertain discussion on a wide range of topics and you just squander it I have no illusions that anything I say, seriously or snarkly, will have any impact on anyone's opinion. The attitude and opinions of the folks who rant on this board are so ingrained that nothing anyone says will alter their own opinion.
Well, at least you're honest. I followed a few of the more prolific posters over from another board. It was similar, but even smaller and more tightly-knit. However there was a good bit of ideological diversity, even among the conservatives. Believe it or not, every once in a while our discussions were serious enough to lead me to re-evaluate and every so often adjust my philosophy on certain concepts. I may or may not be alone in that regard, I don't know. My political stances are a subset of my philosophical beliefs, and while it may be foreign to you, I actually come to boards like this to have my beliefs discussed and challenged. Not made fun of, mind you...I can handle the teasing but when I feel like I've been robbed of an opportunity for constructive dialog I get irritated. You're not the only one I get irritated with; you just caught me at a point when I had a few extra minutes to rant about it. So in conclusion: you keep doing what you do; maybe I came to this board with the wrong expectations. I will re-adjust my attitude toward you and try to do a better job ignoring you. I just find it ironic that I'm conservative...you're liberal...and I'm the one seeking exposure to different points of view. MeatMop

There is a big difference between these two approaches in a post:
1. ad hominem attack
2. ad hominem attack with a substantive argument in the same post
One is fun; the other is a bore (and a sign of either (a) stupidity; or (b) elitism.)

Meatmop, if you joined this board for serious, philosophical discussions ... great. Your high-minded ethics is great also ... have you issued similar critictism to the right-wingnut conservatives on this board who regurgitate the lies and smears the GOP is spreading against Obama I realize that you're fairly new to this board, but over the last few months, there have been just as many "patriotic, conservative, republicans" who have been just as obtuse and just as insulting, if not more, than I have -- and there are several actively posting on this board. You have grumpy trying to smear Obama because he was on some board of directors with, who is now, a respected professor who happened to have a history of radical behavior during a period of social unrest in our country. And look at the posts of gorknoid and wowster .... just to name a few. When I see you start criticizing them as you are me, I might take you more seriously. Until then .... neener-neener-neener

Is this the way we refer to terrorists now? Then you honestly wonder why people say liberals are soft on terror?
