now that would be interesting...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/07/22/vp-buzz-rises-around-jindal/

(CNN) — John McCain is set to meet with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal Wednesday, a move that is certain to increase speculation the Arizona senator is seriously considering the 37-year-old Republican for his running mate.

News of the meeting, first reported by the Washington Post, comes amid reports the McCain campaign has mulled the possibility of naming the vice presidential candidate later this week in an effort to steal the media spotlight from Barack Obama's trip overseas. Sources close to the Republican presidential candidate have indicated that scenario is one of several possibilities that have been recently discussed.

CNN's Political Market: Jindal's stock rises

Speculation first swirled around Jindal earlier this summer when he was one of a handful of politicians McCain invited to his Sedona, Arizona ranch. The long weekend was described as purely social, though former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist were also in attendance.

Jindal is considered a boy wonder of sorts within the Republican Party, and has been lauded by several conservatives wary of John McCain — including talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh. But the decision would undercut one of the Arizona senator's chief arguments against Obama: his relative lack of experience. The Louisiana governor is nearly 10 years younger than the Democratic presidential candidate.

iReport: Who should be VP? Weigh in!

Jindal has remained mum on whether he is interested in or being formally vetted for the vice presidency.

Meanwhile, McCain specifically avoided answering any questions about his VP timetable Tuesday morning.

I would love to vote for a McCain/Jindal ticket in November. Jindal may be younger than Obama, but he has more political experience. Rush Limbaugh even called him the new Ronald Reagan.

Jindal may be in some trouble in LA. He came in on a reform platform and the legislature voted themselves a 123% pay increase. People are ticked...

There are two sides: they say that they havent received an increase since 1980. I think is  true from what I have read. Still, people are angry but I just don't know how justifiable it is.

Jindal is 37 and would be, I believe, the second youngest nominee ever by a major party. William Jennings Bryan was 36 in 1896 when the Democrats nominated him for president. Richard M. Nixon was 39 when Ike picked him for vice president in 1952.

even though that's only 4.5% a year i still think it's excessive to do it all at once. it's not like louisiana is booming these days either. these guys make plenty of money on the side just like they all do.

I seriously doubt that any state has lousier state legislators than here in Alabama. The real tragedy is that none of them are holding power by gunpoint-they were all elected. What does that say for the Alabama electorate?

I grew up in Louisiana (so did Brittney Spears) and would have a hard time believing that another state could beat us on the banana republic scale.

Well now gee-this could be a bigger rivalry than Auburn-LSU! Wink

If I were him, I would wait, stay Governor, gain experience.

I think it would be great if McCain picked Fred Thompson.

The combined age of the prez and vp would be over 140 years -- WOW
