There is nothing new about that word. It is used to describe supporters of Leon Trotsky and his ideas. "Trotskyist" is a more common term.

Thanks for clearing that vague reference up for me.  Lord knows I'd never have figured it out for myself.  Like....30 years ago.  I seem to be grinding up against an age shelf in this forum.  I'm 47, and can actually recall events which are simply concepts in the minds of many members of this forum.  Not claiming any intellectual superiority due to my age, but I do feel free to gleefully shit on ignorance.

I'm sure  the Russian Govt. enjoys the benefits of economic freedom, I'm not sure about social issues. They are restricting free speech and religious freedom.

exactly, lock the doors, turn out the lights, don't make a sound and pretend that you are not part of the world.  lets us do what we can, when we can, where we can, to the extent that we can, in promoting and supporting democracy, liberty and freedom throughout the world.  in this case we can call a thug regime out for being a thug regime.  we can provide humanitarian aid and military hardware to the georgians, we can force the world to address this issue in some form, we can deny them positions of status ie the g8, wtc, winter olympics etc... we can freeze their assets here and prohibit american companies from doing business directly or indirectly with russia and provide support for those able to do the same.  we can push for nato admission of former soviet republics.  we can use this to push for a true policy of energy independence at home and commit to maintaining the strongest, force flexible military on the planet.

We shall see; I don’t think that relations are damaged to that level.  As things are now, Russia will work with us on the Space Station- they are probably stealing all sorts of good advance science from us.
