Patriotism seems to be rearing its ugly head into many discussions on this board.  It could be for a variety of reasons.  Some may believe it has something to do with the fact that it is a vital component in becoming President of the United States.  One may have the perception that because the manner in which thier life has progressed is a direct result of the government and therefore may have a egocentric version of the concept. However, some speak of the subject with thier own interests in mind.  It is a concept that is beneficial for any nation for many reasons.  Whether right or wrong if the nation pursues a path that our leaders have set for us then we support these endeavors....thats patriotism.  We support and honor those who have served to preserve the freedoms we hold so dearly and we thank them everyday IN EVERYWAY...thats patriotism.

Patriotism, or lack thereof, is powerful tool to either inspire or deject.  Those who lack patriotism see the worst in a country that provides them with the security and opportunity such as United States of America.  One who is patriotic is never ashamed to be an American and any part of the world.  The will defend her until the day they die...

It seems that to many the idea of patriotism is disappearing as people from other parts of the world seek to alter what makes America what it is.  A select group seeks to defend what used to be the United States while others offer up appeasement and acceptance. Patriotism may seek to reverse the perspective and compel those who seek to change her learn that what makes this country what it is today is exactly what was throughout the years.

Some will seek to spin or use these words to support thier own deluded view of patriotism, however they will only serve to validate the argument that this country is here ready to be given away to any who ask.  They will only bolster the argument that people exploit  what this country has to offer because true patriots are not permitted to defend the country they love from these fraudulent invaders.  Some will take a very individualistic view of patriotism as it applies to them and thier immediate environment and claim it is for the good of the whole. 

Patriots realize, understand, and embrace the fact that this country does not owe them anything rather it is the opposite.  Patriots are waiting patiently for the moment when we can take this country back and make what it once was.  Again some will attempt to spin these words, bend and twist them to suit thier own pathetic attempt at seeming patriotic. Some may attempt to play devils adovocate or make a patriot seem to uncaring or RACIST. But the bottom line is that you are either love this country and what it stands for or you don't....and if you don't then you should take your azz somewhere else where they will change thier entire country around for you and your kind.

You cannot please all of the fraudulent invaders who have com eto this country and are attempting to alter its patriotic personality or National DNA if you will.  This country was built by Americans for Americans. Americans are patriotic, if and only if they, 1. LOVE THIS COUNTRY, 2. ACCEPT ITS PASTIMES AND TRADITIONS, 3. HONOR THOSE WHO PROTECT US AND KEEP US FREE, 4. So, would a true Patriot even go so far as to move or act against the current administration, or are they exempt? They have surely NOT contributed to the Greatness of this Country; This America is not the same America that was in place when Duh-bya took office.

As for your first sentance, that couldn't be further from the truth. Mr. Keyes is correct.

I don't think anyone would argue about it being a different America. If the current admin had done something to undermine the country, or its greatness then those responsible should be held accountable. The dems in office have my full support to investigate any wrongful acts committed.

See? Why should it only be the "Dems in office" who should do the investigating. Wrongful, or damaging acts committed are (or should be) way bigger than party affiliations. Investigating and acting on those wrongful acts are exactly what a Patriot should do, whatever their party line is.

I mean no offense in this, but I am personally sick of having patriotism shoved down my throat.

It's like saying "I love you" a million times a day to a person you love.  It means nothing after the first time you say it.

The rest of your love for your country is reflected in your actions.  Send a care package to a soldier in Iraq.  Fly a flag.  Visit a national memorial or monument.  Learn some history of your country.

Talking about it only gets you so far, and it HARDLY MAKES you a patriot.

And what makes you an authority on patriotism that I cannot state what I think it to be?  Who said anyone was shoving it down your throat?

It is what is it is.

Some believe the problems of today are from a lack of Patriotism.  Lets take illegal immigration for instance.  You like those minutemen in Texas running the illegals down?  Or do you think that they have a right to be here and suck off the system and hide behind the 14th amendment?  Do you think that we should just allow people to attack us on our own soil and threaten our citizens abroad or should we try to appease the rogue bullies?  And what have you done patriot....besides offer up the deluded perspectives of the left which you are clearly a member of?  Thats the problem with this country is we are forced to accept mediocrity because if we don't then we are insensitive.  Mediocrity breeds mediocrity.  This country is where it is because mediocrity has been allowed to perpetuate itself...when it should be slowly relocated.  Like gay marriage, for example, after we let them marry what will be next?  Should we let people marry monkeys and dogs?  Each time we give alittle this country changes for the worst.  Hey .... lets give the illegals amnesty ...its the right thing to do....now look at the problems we have because of it.  We have people who arent even citizens of this country who are demanding the same rights and priviledges as those who die everyday to defend us.  Thats just one example....... talk to me about whats going on when your 30 and then well see what you think about our country then...... if you thought havent changed then you will be in the same place are now....in delusion
