yeah .. clinton was sooooooo irresponsible. Balanced budget and a budget surplus.

The only way to reform the government is to take the money out of politics -- completely. When you have folks giving tens of thousands of dollars to a politician or party ... it doesn't matter which party controls congress ... they will get the tax breaks and lax legislation they want.

Didn't they steal from the Social Security Trust Fund to create that, ahem, "surplus"?

Kind of off-topic, but worth mentioning: didn't Clinton sign that bill which repealed the Glass-Steagall Act? Yeah, that was a smart move. Very smart move.

All hail King William.

If I remember right, the first year the budget surplus was only a few billion. But the next year, the budget surplus exceeded the SS security surplus.

But phrasing it that way means you have to acknowledge that the budget deficits run up by dear leader has been 100-200 billion higher than the official number reported. In fact, the US has been borrowing over 1/2 trillion dollars a year for the last 5 years. That's REAL fiscal responsibility.

And yes Clinton did sign the bill that repealed Glass-Steagall -- which was passed by a republican congress -- and in fact was introduced by McSame's economic guru Phil "you're a whiner" Graham.

Clinton could have vetoed it.

By the way: I am NOT defending the Bush administration's economic policies. They're just as bad as Clinton's and Reagan's.

this nation is suffering because we have become a one party system.  both parties have learned that our votes can be bought.

Now please don't faint, but on this I agree with you 100%. We are ruled by a duopoly that keeps insurgencies (on both the left and the right) suppressed. Just ask Ron Paul, Ralph Nader and Pat Buchanan.

I also agree.

See?  We all have SOME common ground here.

I haven't seen "Billy Madison" since it came out-sorry. Now if it had been a reference from either "The Big Lebowski" or "Idiocracy" I would have probably caught it right off.
