Interesting article. I like the idea, but I'm waiting to see something from the Bush administration about this. It'll be hard to convince such oil-crazed bastards that oil is not the only solution, though.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on a response from two oil men.

agreed. mcsame too, now that he has cozied up to them. i'm glad mccain has made his position known and finally decided one way or another what he will stand for (offshore drilling). he's a friend of big oil and that's obvious to the american people. it isn't going to help him get any votes (though he might have the help of diebold)

yeah ... McSame issued a press release a day or two ago where he said that oil company executives -- who have enjoyed record profits since dear leader and darth cheney were anointed -- had looked at his plan and claimed it was best for America.

They wouldn't lie to us -- would they  Huh

Off shore drilling is the new GOP talking point.   Congresswoman Buchanan has given speeches recently advocating drilling of the shores of NC, and yet her website still claims, as does her staff, she is against it in NC.    Roll Eyes

Drilling for more of our oil is not going to greatly lessen the power of OPEC.  We must shift from oil to alcohol in order to crush OPEC. And yes, trash can be a feedstock for methanol production.

Very interesting: the local morning conservative talk show guys were talking to DeLay.  They said back in the 90's a bill was passed through the house to remove the ban on offshore drilling.  They said it failed the Senate by one vote...McCain! I haven't researched it so I'm not sure if he was the only dissenting Republican or not...
