For one, farmers who purchase these seeds will not be able to save the new seeds for next season- this is an ancient practice which created diversity and resistance to disease. For another, how will these patented seeds stay where they are planted? Seeds will migrate, via bird shit, to other plots of land. I have seen that courts have ruled against patent holders against small farmers in these instances. But will these decisions stand???
