Well, what IS healthy then?  Tell kids that being gay is bad, and leave it at that?  I think the truth is owed to them, whether we think they're mature enough to handle it or not.  Funny how people say "the kids need to grow up and see what the real world is" but when it comes to talking about gay, it should be hush hush--TALKING ABOUT IT MIGHT MAKE IT CONTAGIOUS.  Talking about it in schools might make other countries think that America is gay, and I'M NOT GAY!

How about telling kids that they should treat everyone with respect and just get along.  Leave gay, straight, all of the above, or unsure out of the equation.

When I was 25 I had bought my second home and had two kids. I was never referred to as a kid in any way.  Roll Eyes

"I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys 'R' Us kid..."

I don't think that there should be special attention devoted to the subject in sex ed.  That would make things worse.  I think, though, that our sexual CULTURE should be explained more entirely, so that teenagers understand how sex operates on the social level.  If you think about it, that is where young people are primarily confused about sex in general, and that is probably why they tend to make bad choices.  Maybe it should be a social studies class more than health studies?

In fact, if it were a social studies class about sexual culture, that would be too much--it could be a part of a bigger class about modern culture, which includes sexual culture, which includes a paragraph about homosexuality which explains how it truthfully exists and is accepted in society, and the controversial history of it.  Since we do not yet know why humans and other species exhibit some homosexual behavior in their social groups, it would be inappropriate to try and explain its origin or whether it is right or wrong--but ultimately, that it is there, and it is not alien to our culture.

Social studies usually bothered me because it was almost all American history in a mask.  All of it was dates, events, movements, civics and names.  It should have been more about American culture, what it is, what my part in it is and how that will change depending on my choices, etc.

I think education needs reform, everywhere.  Every subject should be re-thought on its approach to the students.  "How does this subject connect the students to the world."  That's all learning is, really.

PS, its good that you are frounded with an earth sign moon though. Me with a Gemini moon am always changing and can't seem to make up my mind. One day I like red and the next another color.  Am able to see all sides of a subject which can be extremely confusing, even to me.  Sad

I don't really know which is my moon.

But I fit my astrology sign perfectly.  I like kids, except I am nervous around them.

Geminis quite frequently have a jittery nervous system. Gemini rules the hands, lungs and nervous system.  Smiley
