Iran had seriously better check itself. Do they remember what happened to Syria?

I for one would have NO problem with Israel doing their thing and taking out some installations.

The US Military is too busy in Iraq to deal with the real threat, but hopefully our allies will clean this @#$% up.

That would be problematic since the Iranians put some of their facilities deep under cities….

yeah...human shields. sucks. that's why i say let israel deal with the fallout Smiley

Yeah it's not like Israel can get any worse PR.

Even if the USA is uninvolved things could get pretty ugly. I think the best way to deal with Iran is to undermine this regime internally and make it a consistent theme of our propaganda that our beef is with the Amwhateveryoucallhim and his ayatollahs rather than the Iranian people.

The "Arab street", as they call it, is so irrational that no one should be surprised.

It's such a complicated problem. I really don't know what the answer is. Energy prices wuold skyrocket if there is any conflict in the Mid East. That is for sure.

I guess that's true...I assume Iran doens't sell oil to the US but it would still ripple through. Still these jackasses are messing with THE BULL, so they should get THE HORNS

Of OPEC members, I believe Iran is the second biggest supplier after Saudi Arabia. They have crazy reserves as well. Haven't China, Russia, and some European countries invested? A few were scared away by sanctions and US pressure, but surely these economic considerations are the primary reason the US and/or Israel have refrained from taking stronger action thus far.

A very good and surprisingly unbiased article on Iran and the “Guns of November.”

http://www.newsweek.com/id/145244
In "The Guns of August," her much-quoted history of the start of World War I, Barbara Tuchman wrote that European leaders were "appalled upon the brink" by their own martial posturing and "attempted to back away" from the devastating conflict that was about to start. But at the eleventh hour "the pull of military schedules dragged them forward." A tipping point had been reached in which war had gained its own grim momentum. Cooler heads could no longer prevail.

Very interesting article.

Here is Iran’s trump card.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/07/10/business/opec.php

It is also pushing us towards the tipping point discussed in the last article that I posted.

It sucks that they have us by the balls with this. More reason to begin drilling ANWR.

Drill everywhere possible; mandate that every engine made is a flex fuel engine that can run off gas, ethanol, or methanol; create the infrastructure run on these fuels and funnel the world petro-dollars to America instead of to our enemies; destroy our enemies’ economies; listen to the lamentation of the women of our enemies.

Speaking of methane, my father experimented with putting grass clippings into a plastic bag in his trunk and running a tube to a vacuum line of the intake manifold. He said he had much better mileage doing this.

Creative. Good for him! We need more minds like his experimenting on every technological possibility.

By moving to alcohol-based fuels we can achieve the same goal as with bombs, with the added benefit of turning the table on OPEC and directing the world’s fuel dollars to the West instead of the Middle East.  This would also help the 3rd World nations that could become energy exporters instead of energy importers.

I highly recommend the book Energy Independence by Robert Zurbin.

Bombs alone do not break the OPEC cartel.
