McCain/Palin 2008

« on: May 06, 2008, 08:45:29 PM »

What's the line in Vegas?  60K?  70?  That, my friends, as a shitload of dead people.  Here we stand with the money cannons locked and loaded (Like the humanitarian dumb-asses we are) begging them to accept our assistance, and they don't want it.
Cool.  One less burden on the American taxpayer.

George, turn the ships around, cancel the flights, and send those supplies to Virginia and Arkansas.  It isn't like saving the lives of the survivors will make them understand what living in a REAL country means.  Let them die en masse.  They have already told you that they want you to.

Isn't it the military government that is refusing help?

Yes, it is.  Does that make me want to hand them money?  No, it doesn't.  I'm seeing Oil-For-Food all over again.

Although I don't share gorknoid's sadistic attitude towards the situation, I think they're smart to reject American help.  All it would do is allow us to gain control over another troubled territory, and they're smart enough to realize that.  Let them rebuild their own strength, and stand on their own two feet.

I don’t understand.  What other natural disaster zones has the US taken over using humanitarian aid as a pretext?

The US federal government didn't even take over the Gulf Coast after Katrina!

Spunkster, all I am doing is espousing the democrat stance on foreign intervention.  Screw a bunch of little kids who have lost their parents.  It's "The Circle Of Life" from "The Lion King".  "Hakuna matatta", you little bastards!  If we learned one thing from Operation Iraqi Freedom, it's that democrats don't give a flying fuck whether you live or die as long as there are enough food stamps available for people who feel that work is beneath them here in the bad old USKKKof A.

it's sounds like you're spouting male bovine excretement for the sake of spouting male bovine excretement.

But in that spirit ... conservatives don't care if soldiers die in a clusterfuck of a war as long as we get oil and big corporations get no-bid, cost-plus contracts and make HUGE profits.

it is heinous.  a sad situation made worse by some sad, pathetic little mad man that would let his people die rather than take help that is freely offered.  i don't know where you get your view of this country or of the world in general spunk, so in obvious conflict with historical fact that you are not worthy of debate.  no the left in this country does not give a damn for any moral responsibility we may have toward iraq and yes we will continue to fight to secure middle east oil so long as we refuse to exploit our own resources.  gunnit you can chant bush lied soldiers died on your drive to work today.

Jesus fucking Christ.  I suggest that it is a wise political move, and I get attacked for it.  Gorknoids says that little children deserve to die, and everybody leaves him the fuck alone, less gunnit.

you guys are fucking sick.

I am a conservative and I care very much. I believe conservatives care just as much or more for our soldiers than liberals do.   Angry  This country will be ok. I lived through the Viet Nam war and things were horrible then but we will come back. I believe that. I have to.

Paul Risley, a spokesman for the United Nations World Food Program, said, “all the food aid and equipment that we managed to get in has been confiscated.”

...

One United Nations official said he had never seen delays like this before in delivering relief supplies and aid officials.

“The frustration caused by what appears to be a paperwork delay is unprecedented in modern humanitarian relief efforts,” said Mr. Risley. “It’s astonishing.”

He said his agency alone had submitted 10 visa applications for relief workers but that none had been approved before consulates shut down for the weekend.

...

In Thailand, in addition to aid workers United States Air Force transport aircraft and helicopters waited at an airport for permission to enter Myanmar with supplies.

“We are in a long line of nations who are ready, willing and able to help, but also, of course, in a long line of nations the Burmese don’t trust,” said the United States ambassador to Thailand, Eric John.

...

In New York, United Nations officials all but demanded Thursday that the government open its doors.

“The situation is profoundly worrying,” said Mr. Holmes, the United Nations official in charge of the relief effort, speaking in unusually candid language for a diplomat. “They have simply not facilitated access in the way we have a right to expect.”

Mr. Holmes’s predecessor in that job, Jan Egeland, said, “children are going to die from diarrhea because of this government’s inaction.”
