Egalitarianism is simply absurd

I'm curious as to who was responsible. It is probably just a Muslim radical looking to stir things up but Russia's extreme Right is becoming more violent. Actually, I think this is true throughout eastern Europe. Then again, I don't know if any ethnic Russians live in this former Soviet republic. Russia is going to be interesting to watch and I have yet to make up my mind about her. Can Russia be a part of the West? Do Russians want that?

A grenade exploded during evening prayers at a packed mosque in Azerbaijan's capital Sunday, killing two people and wounding up to eight others, the police said.

An unidentified attacker threw the grenade into a prayer area in the Abu-Bekr mosque, one of the largest in Baku, said an Interior Ministry spokesman, Ehsan Zahidov. He said the attacker may have had accomplices.

Media reports said there were hundreds of people in the mosque when the blast occurred. Zahidov said seven or eight were wounded and hospitalized.

Azerbaijan is a mostly Muslim former Soviet republic whose secular government is deeply wary of any Muslims whose views and practices go beyond the bounds of the approved. The Abu-Bekr mosque is seen by the authorities in the oil-rich Caspian Sea country as a gathering place for extremists.

It will be interesting to see what the deal is.

Secular Muslims can be our friends and allies.  My wife has traveled there for work- I will have to ask her about this.
