Neocons Up Nuclear War Ante with Poland Missile Deal

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars
August 15, 2008

The CBC reports:

A Russian general says the recently negotiated deal to allow the United States to place a missile interceptor base in Poland “cannot go unpunished.”

Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn, deputy chief of the Russian general staff, made the comment to reporters on Friday.

Nogovitsyn was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying Poland was risking attack by agreeing to the deal.

It should be obvious by now the Russians will no longer tolerate the U.S. deploying missile “defense” systems on their border and if the neocons continue to do so Russia will attack the NATO’s client states.

“The Parties of NATO agreed that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all,” states the treaty. In other words, if Russia takes out Poland’s “missile defense shield,” there will be war in Europe. Not just any old war, mind you, but a nuclear war.

“President Putin has warned the US that its deployment of a new anti-missile network across Eastern Europe would prompt Russia to point its own missiles at European targets and could trigger nuclear war,” the Times Online reported last June. “We have brought all our heavy weapons beyond the Urals and reduced our military forces by 300,000. But what do we have in return? we see that Eastern Europe is being filled with new equipment, two positions in Bulgaria and Romania, as well as radar in the Czech Republic, and missile systems in Poland. What is happening? Unilateral disarmament of Russia is happening,” said Putin.

Poland further angered Russia when president and former childhood actor Lech Kaczy?ski and his “Baltic counterparts called for a NATO action plan for Georgia on Wednesday, saying membership is the only way to prevent future ‘aggression and occupation’ after the recent Russia-Georgia conflict,” reports by Monsters and Critics.

As F. William Engdahl writes, the so-called missile defense deal with Poland moves the world closer to nuclear war:

The signing on August 14 of an agreement between the governments of the United States and Poland to deploy on Polish soil US ‘interceptor missiles’ is the most dangerous move towards nuclear war the world has seen since the 1962 Cuba Missile crisis. Far from a defensive move to protect European NATO states from a Russian nuclear attack, as military strategists have pointed out, the US missiles in Poland pose a total existential threat to the future existence of the Russian nation. The Russian Government has repeatedly warned of this since US plans were first unveiled in early 2007. Now, despite repeated diplomatic attempts by Russia to come to an agreement with Washington, the Bush Administration, in the wake of a humiliating US defeat in Georgia, has pressured the Government of Poland to finally sign the pact. The consequences could be unthinkable for Europe and the planet.

For NATO, however, such a scenario is not unthinkable. “The west must be ready to resort to a pre-emptive nuclear attack to try to halt the ‘imminent’ spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, according to a radical manifesto for a new Nato by five of the west’s most senior military officers and strategists,” the Guardian reports.

Calling for root-and-branch reform of Nato and a new pact drawing the US, Nato and the European Union together in a “grand strategy” to tackle the challenges of an increasingly brutal world, the former armed forces chiefs from the US, Britain, Germany, France and the Netherlands insist that a “first strike” nuclear option remains an “indispensable instrument” since there is “simply no realistic prospect of a nuclear-free world”.

Nogovitsyn said that Russia’s military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons “against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them.” According to Nogovitsyn, that would include elements of so-called strategic deterrence systems, reports the Associated Press.

The neocons welcome this nuclear brinkmanship as the “official return of history,” as Robert Kagan deemed it on the pages of the Washington Post. Kagan and the neocons, no doubt, have reserved a place in the bunker.

Interesting!
The Ruskies do not want Americans to be protected from missile attacks and should be punished for doing so?
When will Russia launch their nuclear warhead ICBMs?
Russia is trying to jack up the cost of oil again!

It is payback for the West supporting Kosovo independence.  What is good for the goose is good for the gander.  The West (read US) doesn’t have spare ground forces to truly push the issue with the neo-Soviets.  I say “read US” since the rest of the West doesn’t have the moral courage to take a stand.

That and the means to take a stand.

Hell, they're doing it because they CAN do it and who the fuck is going to stop them after we illegally invaded and occupied Iraq Huh

No country has the military power to stop them and since March 19, 2003 ... no country has the moral authority to say jack-shit about some other country invading and occupying another country.

Why don't the Europeans do something? The European elite hated the US when it had this "moral authority" and they hate the US now. We can say the same for Islamists and the international Left. Nothing has changed, Gunit.

It appears they aren't unaffiliated loons over at infowars. They're America-hating loons who sympathize with authoritarian regimes and regurgitate their propaganda. I guess this stuff makes Lookout feel smart. Lookout, the Poland missile deal is old news. Is this really the first time you've heard about it?

The Europeans will not do anything for two reasons: 1. they rely on Russian oil and natural gas and 2. they are pussies.

Grump: my Kosovo explanation may be incomplete, but if you assert that it is also incorrect why not correct it?  To remind you Serbia is supported by Russia.  Kosovo was supported by the West.  When the West supported Kosovar independence Russia warned that it would set precedence.  It has: if Kosovo can succeed from Serbia why can’t these breakaway sections leave Georgia?  If the American Southwest wants to join Mexico, once the majority living there are Mexican citizens, what will the US government say?

No...It is new news because now Russia has gone public with threatening Poland with a nuclear strike. Perhaps you should read the full article before making statements?

your first statement is indisputable.  merkel has lamented the disproportionate nature of russia's actions??   Grin  as for kosovo, our backing of their independence is connected to an undeniable history of serbian genocide.  this is in no way the case in georgia.  i am not arguing that there is not to a limited degree tit for tat at play.  i am saying that there are many factors.  the fall of the soviet union was brought about as the result of economic stagnation and implosion, not a genuine ideological shift within the controlling powers.  the same cold war players never left the stage, just took a step back.  with the ascension of putin they were clearly front and center again.  bush definitely needs his vision checked.  when you look into the eyes of the kgb you see the absence of a soul.  this is russia rich with oil and wanting to subjugate the former republics and generally assert dominance over asia and europe.  georgia is a kettle heated and stirred by russia.  this was well planned and they were obviously well prepared.  in effect this is a clear shot across the bow.  the question is what can we do, should we do and will we do, given our post iraq paralysis.  i believe that we are the leader of the free world and that we have the responsibility/obligation to do what we can, when we can and to the extent that we can to promote and support democracy, liberty and freedom.  yes this is within our national security interests.  so where do we go from here....i would supply georgia with both humanitarian assistance and arms.  i would push for the acceptance of former soviet republics within nato (estonia, latvia, lithuania, belarus, ukraine, and yes georgia).  i would freeze any and all russian assets within our reach and bar american companies from doing business directly or indirectly with russia.  i would openly encourage our allies to do the same and provide any assistance we could in this regard.  i would push for all of the prestige, symbolic measures...wtc, g8-1=7, winter olympics, endless votes on un condemnations and sanctions.  i would use europe's quandary to imprint upon the american people the absolute national security imperative of a comprehensive energy strategy.  i would commit to maintaining the strongest, force flexible military on the planet and demonstrate this by growing the military, modernizing our nuclear arsenal, continue to develop and deploy missile defense systems, space based weapons systems etc....i would make sure that the world and russia knew that all of these actions were the direct result of their unprovoked and unwarranted invasion of a sovereign state.

Wrong again. At infowars, they, we are very patriotic and committed to loving America and supporting America, just not from the lying, deceitful, murderous, hate filled globalists who do not care about the American people or any other people and are bent on killing and justifying it in ridiculous ways. Infowars is for the people...All people, not just the RICH PSYCHOPATHS who care only for themselves and are creating a police state and an imperialist government and destroying the constitution and bill of rights and they don't care who they kill to accomplish their agenda. It is the elite who are bent on beating the American public into submission and turning this country into a Communist china that we, they are against. This was a wonderful country with its freedoms and rights given to all citizens by our constitution, unfortunately I doubt it will ever recover from the Bush regime's relentless attack on our privacy, our citizens, our neighbors rights, our constitution, our laws newly made and false flag events that makes the executive branch accountable to no one but themselves that infowars is against. We, they are in no way against America and in no way hate America. Infact, infowars and others like them are becoming larger and gaining strength because people are waking up and seeing the evil that has befallen this great country and made it into a fascist dictatorship and growing police state. YOU should be grateful there is such a thing as infowars and we are change and all the others because without them the Bush regime would have even more power and YOU would have even less rights than you do now. God bless Alex Jones and his commitment to waking the people and trying to keep this great nation America and its citizens safe. God bless America and God help us all!

If this statement can be misconstrued by you into thinking infowars or I hate America in any way, than you should seriously think about joining the cia or fbi or homeland security. THey already have many people like you who read one thing and make it mean something entirely different to fit their agenda...its called SPIN. So Spin yourself out. I love America, the America that used to be free before the Bush regime started destroying it. I will fight with everything in my being to defend this great nation from enemies foreigh and domestic, and in case you haven't noticed, Bush is a domestic enemy! He has caused the American people more grief and heartache and done so much dammage to our rights as citizens that it will take 20 or more years to undo what he has done. Again, GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD HELP US ALL!!!
