Teen Accused of Strangling Girlfriend After Watching 'Natural Born Killers'

Natural Born Killers is a brilliant movie, and should not be included in this title.

Movies do not corrupt people's minds.  This man made a conscious decision to end his girlfriend's life, and he should pay for it himself--not the rest of people, by banning art.

And I am not surprised that FoxNews would include "Natural Born Killers" as a motive for the murder.  They want to control freedom of expression.

Eric Tavulares, 18, is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 18-year-old Lauren Aljubouri. He faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.

According to a criminal complaint filed Monday, Tavulares told police he had seen Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers" 10 or 20 times and had been watching it Friday night.

Tavulares said he knew Aljubouri, an Arrowhead High School graduate, since second grade and the pair had been dating on and off for years.

They lived together near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus and planned to go to college in the fall. When Aljubouri got home Friday night, they began watching the 1994 film about a murder spree of two lovers that becomes a media obsession.

Tavulares told police they stopped the movie halfway through and went to bed.

According to the complaint, Tavulares doesn't recall exactly what happened next but that something caused him to "switch mentally and he rolled over on Lauren Aljubouri and he began strangling her."


It actually sounds to me like this guy is a nut case, and intends to use media-inflicted insanity as his motive, in order to blame the movie companies for his (supposed) girlfriend's death instead of taking full responsibility on his own.

I saw Natural Born Killers way more than twenty times.  It is one of my favorite movies.

Has anybody seen Spunkloaf in the headlines for murdering people? ( I guess you never would)



This is actually all SO ironic, because the theme of the movie is about how the media fuels murderers and serial killers.  It is just presented in a dark, twisted and deranged point of view.  It is an acquired taste of beauty which Stone presented brilliantly.

Could all this hype about a Stone movie (by the FoxNews corp) be because Stone is an inspiring lefty??

I agree with what conley said.  If this teenager had been eating a tangerine, which he might have claimed to inspire him to kill his girlfriend, would the media have paid any attention to that or simply passed him off as an asshole?


People need to quit being so insecure with other people's minds and intentions.
