Mississippi Voters Reject Anti Abortion Law

Voters turned a skeptical eye toward conservative-backed measures across the country Tuesday, rejecting an anti-labor law in Ohio, an anti-abortion measure in Mississippi and a crackdown on voting rights in Maine.

In one of the biggest surprises of the night was Mississippi’s rejection of a far-reaching and stringent anti-abortion initiative known as the “personhood” amendment, which had inspired a ferocious national debate.

Initiative 26 would have amended the state Constitution to define life “to include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.”

Supporters, including evangelical Christians, said it would have stopped the murder of innocent life and sent a clarion moral call to the world. They said they expected that passage in Mississippi would have built support for similar laws in other states.

It seems the liberals carried most of the elections. Surprising to me, I guess it is the inevitable swing of the pendulum. They got their kicks in on Obama in 2010.

It doesnt surprise me at all. I thought this would happen, America is becoming more liberal every day  :)

Thats why Mississippi just elected another Republican Govenor despite that anit-abortion measure.

I'm sure Mississippi will remain red. Nationally, liberals are claiming some degree of success in these elections and it's difficult to refute that.

i believe that ohio also voted to kick obama care to the curb....beyond that maine is so blue as to be purple, cannot speak to the mississippi law don't know the in's and outs.....still abortion is morally repugnant.....

Opens up Hayley Barber for lets say other things. I do not know if that is a good thing or not. Don't know to much about him other than he is Southern Christian Conservative.

Kentucky stayed the same as the Incumbent Democrat Won. What Rand Paul should do is run for Governor of Kentucky first before any Presidential bid. Then go for it.

the problem with obama is not a lack of experience son....it is a fascist ideology and a lack of character.......

I can't speak on his character, I don't know that he is any better or worse than any other man at that level of government. They are all flawed, but then so are we all. I don't believe he's a fascist :D

More experience for Obama and for Paul would provide a more clear record of where they stood on issues and we could get a better sense of the man. Of course in Obama's experience merely voting 'Present' doesn't say a lot about his political leanings but then again it does speak volumes doesn't it. His record as President is very similar. I haven't seen him take a stand on much.

I have.....he seems to stand on partying and spending money. That trip to the East with also take him Dwn Unda. Guess he wants to Check out Sidney tho I would go to Melbourne myself. (Nude boobs erm I mean Legs.)  ;D
