How Do You Feel About Thanksgiving and What's On The Menu?
« on: November 21, 2011, 09:29:38 AM »
I've always loved Christmas but for some reason I find myself getting more and more into Thanksgiving. I think I didn't like it because we ate the same stuff every year and it wasn't very good, but now I'm cooking for myself Thanksgiving week is a lot of fun. Hopefully people also use to the time to actually, you know be thankful and not gluttons. Also I'm anti the whole Black Friday thing, those people are crazy. I treat Black Friday as if the Avian Flu has broken out...I barricade all the doors stay home and interact with nobody!

I think I'd still enjoy Thanksgiving if I was at home or local. Now I have to drive for an hour and it sucks the enjoyment right out of the day.

Oh, that's a good point. Travelling around Thanksgiving is terrible.

I live far away from my family so I don't have them for Thanksgiving. It's just me the OL and the dog. Which is also nice because I can cook whatever I want and not worry about anyone else's preferences.

They are about an hour away so even without traffic (it's usually not tooo bad) it sucks. I reaqlly don't enjoy. I don't look forward to it at all.  :-\

Why is it so bad if it's only an hour drive? Is there bad family stuff you have to deal with?

Not at all. It's just that it's supposed to be fun. It's a holiday. It's not the least bit fun for me to be on the road for two  hours (to and from) and not be able to drink much. I almost resent it. I liked it much better when they were in the area.

Oh jeez, I would never be able to handle my family without booze. Sorry bud :(

What about inviting them all over to your house for Thanksgiving?

we're going out this year and of course it somewhere down by them but I was thinking about doing that a lot from now on. I don't mind cooking. In fact, I enjoy it. I'd love have people over so I don't have to do jack.

Good. I also like cooking because I keep plenty of booze in the kitchen :D
