Question for the Chefs and or the Italians, Greeks, Spanish and Others

Is there really a difference between olive oils?

I mean, once you've got the extra virgin (no comments) does the fancier stuff make any difference? It doesn't seem like it to me.

Yeah Extra virgin is smoother, Less Refined. BTW a spoonful put in with ya dog food. (Canned) Helps with their Coat. Less shedding and makes it shiny. For us it is good for our skin.

Extra Virgin tastes better and is a monosaturated fat, one that helps reduce bad cholestrol in your blood.

f you are using it straight out of the bottle on a salad you should notice a difference.

That's a good point. I was thinking in terms of cooking with a bunch of herbs and other ingredients which is how I usually do it. If I'm making a salad dressing there's balsamic vinegar or other stuff that would over-power the olive oil flavor.

I use extra virgin, cold pressed oil for everything but that's only because I go through a 500ml bottle in 5 or more weeks. If I was using it more often I'd get two: one for frying garlic or greens and one for salads. Right now I just get a high quality oil and use it for everything.

I just dropped a German potato masher grenade and my beer. A scene like this could only happen at Mister D's house.  ::)
