The Vietnam War in particular does look really crappy in a lot of movies. Even besides the brutal combat, the conditions seemed terrible, all that rain and marching in the jungle, the heat and humidity. It just all seemed terrible.

I bet. It looks awful. I would rather be in a war in Iraq than Vietnam. Afghanistan too. Not talking about the combatants, just the elements.

leeches.....did i mention the leeches. I hated those things. Always had to be checking ourselves for those fucks. One little ole lady we met. Showed us a neat little trick. which was to take bean oil and cover yourself in it. Made it harder for the leeches to grab on to. Not that they couldn't just more difficult for them. Course after sweating your ass off and I am talking dripping swet it does wear off. But I was totally surprised that it worked. Even water would kinda just run off ya.

Also note the difference in Equipment. Sometimes one had to move light and quick.
